Topics for 2023-24 Radiance Technologies Innovation Bowl Announced
SHREVEPORT, La. (Nov. 13, 2023) – An event established by Radiance Technologies and the Independence Bowl Foundation in 2022, the Radiance Technologies Innovation Bowl embarks on its second year. After a team from the University of Alabama at Birmingham took home the first $25,000 grand prize for the 2022-23 competition, the topics for the 2023-24 Innovation Bowl have been announced.
This year’s topics focus on Micro-Electronic Packaging with three areas of interest. Participating teams can pick one of the three topics to focus on:
Topic No. 1 — Novel hardware architectures for AI/ML systems enabled by advanced heterogeneous packaging
Topic No. 2 — Methods for fast thermal evaluations of 2.5/3D packaging assemblies to enable parametric testing of prototype configurations
Topic No. 3 — Thermal solutions to enable tighter integration of chipsets in advanced packages
The Innovation Bowl is a two-phase academic competition between schools in conferences affiliated with the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl. Schools compete for a $25,000 grand prize by developing innovative approaches to a current research and development topic selected by Radiance Technologies.
The two-phase competition begins with teams developing a proof of concept of their innovative idea during the fall semester. The scientists and researchers at Radiance Technologies then select three finalist teams announced during bowl week of the Independence Bowl. Those three finalists then further develop their ideas during the spring semester and present their results in-person to Radiance’s subject matter experts. A winning team is then selected from those finalists — taking home the $25,000 grand prize.
