46th Independence Bowl Pulls 2.41 Million Viewers on ESPN

The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl posted impressive viewership numbers for the second year in a row – welcoming 2.41 million viewers to the nail-biter between the Houston Cougars and Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Friday, December 23, 2022. That ranked 4th among all Pre-Christmas bowl games.

Houston Scores in Final Minute to Defeat Louisiana 23-16

Fittingly for the Houston Cougars, their win in the 2022 Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl came in the final minute. Clayton Tune’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Nathaniel Dell with 20 seconds to play gave Houston its only lead of the game and the game-winning points in a 23-16 victory over Louisiana on a chilly Friday afternoon at Independence Stadium.

Independence Bowl Donates $5,000 Apiece to Two Local Schools

The $10,000 in donations is the second part of over $55,000 in donations from the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl to local teachers and education in 2022. During Extra Yard for Teachers Week in September, the bowl donated $45,986 to 45 different teachers in Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Red River and Webster Parishes.
