Kickoff Dinner with Kim Mulkey Two Weeks Away

SHREVEPORT, La. (Aug. 16, 2022) – The event that officially kicks off football season and the countdown to Shreveport’s annual college football bowl game, the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl Kickoff Dinner will commence two weeks from today on Tuesday, August 30 at the Shreveport Convention Center.

LSU women’s basketball coach and former Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters star, Kim Mulkey, will be the featured speaker at the 12th annual Independence Bowl kickoff event. Doors at the Shreveport Convention Center for the August 30 event will open at 6 p.m. for a cocktail hour, dinner buffets will open at 6:15 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. with a brief audience Q&A following the program. 

Individual tickets to the 2022 Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl Kickoff Dinner are on sale for $50 apiece, while a table of eight is $400 apiece. A six-time national champion as a player and coach, Mulkey is one of the most successful college basketball coaches of all-time, and she was an integral part of building the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters into a national power in the 1980s. After 19 years at Louisiana Tech as a player and coach, as well as 21 years as head coach of the Baylor Lady Bears, the 2020 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame returned home to take over the LSU women’s basketball program in April 2021.

Established in 1976, the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl™ is the nation’s 11th-oldest bowl game, and the 46th edition will be played on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. CT between Army West Point and a team form the American Athletic Conference. The UAB Blazers defeated the No. 13 BYU Cougars 31-28 in the 45th Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl on Saturday, December 18, 2021. The bowl’s conference and team agreements, as well as the television agreement, also run through the 2025 season.
