50th Anniversary Commemorative Print by Craig Routh On Sale Now

To help chronicle 50 years of the Independence Bowl, Louisiana artist Craig Routh was commissioned to produce a commemorative fine art painting featuring some of the great games, moments, players and coaches in Independence Bowl history and limited-edition prints of the painting are now on sale.

Super Bowl XXI Champion Joe Morris Named No. 17 Player on 50th Anniversary All-Time Team

Number 17 on the Independence Bowl’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team, Syracuse running back Joe Morris, has spent 46 years in the Independence Bowl’s record book as one of the game’s leading rushers. 

Bowl Day Brew, a 50th Anniversary Collaboration with Great Raft Brewing, Begins Flowing August 14

The Independence Bowl Foundation and Great Raft Brewing have produced a special “Independence Pale Lager” to help commemorate the Independence Bowl’s 50th Anniversary. Named “Bowl Day Brew,” this pale lager is being distributed by the Independence Bowl’s beverage partner, Eagle Distributing.

Bob Stoops Named Member of 2021 College Football Hall of Fame Class

Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops was named as one of the two coaches in this illustrious class. Stoops led his 1999 Oklahoma Sooners to the Independence Bowl – the final college football game of the 20th century against the Ole Miss Rebels. Despite falling to David Cutcliffe’s Rebels, Stoops led Oklahoma to a National Championship victory the next year in 2000 – the lone National Championship of his head coaching career.

2020 Willis-Knighton Community Service Scholarship Recipients Announced 

The Independence Bowl Foundation and Willis-Knighton Health System are awarding scholarships to two graduating seniors from both Bossier and Caddo Parishes for the 15th-consecutive year, and the 2020 recipients of the Willis-Knighton/Independence Bowl Foundation Community Service Scholarship are Jaycie Keith of Haughton High School and Molly McNulty of C.E. Byrd High School.
